When you’re sitting at home or at the bar watching it turn midnight around the world, you might want to take a closer look when they feature Sydney.

Microsoft co-founder and international party boy Paul Allen’s super yacht, the Octopus, will be parked in some prime real estate in Sydney Harbour to take in the spectacular fireworks.

Reports the Sydney Morning Herald: “The 126-metre-long super yacht named Octopus roared into the harbour on Tuesday morning and moored at Point Piper…Those on board on Wednesday night will have an uninterrupted view of the New Year’s festivities.

The paper adds, “Its arrival has left residents stunned by its height and many trappings, which include a hangar for its two helicopters and a submarine, which is yellow and can fit up to 10 people.”

If you’re lucky enough to be one of Allen’s guests, you will enjoy one of the 40 private guest suites, swimming pool, juice bar, movie theater and, just in case anyone feels like busting out a single, a recording studio. The approximately $250 million yacht requires a full-time staff of 55 and costs more than $20 million to run every year, according to the article.

The Octopus will be one of “3,000 vessels catching the evening’s fireworks displays, which will attract more than 1.6 million viewers to the harbour shores, according to City of Sydney Council estimates,” the Herald reports.

This wraps up a pretty big year for Allen, whose Seahawks won the Super Bowl. And he’s been quite busy with his philanthropic causes, most recently giving $100 million to create the new Allen Institute for Cell Science and donating $100 million to fight Ebola. So, party on, Paul Allen. You deserve it.
